Vobis race day put some big money on at The Heath and we saw some very promising off-season gallopers.

Race 1 Yulong Stud (Bm78) 1400m

TOKORANGI continued the run for the Moroney camp however run of the race was clearly VASMEE who as expected was made to work from the gate and sit outside AKECHETA. They weren't bludging at all and his effort to finish as close as he did was terrific. A really likeable, bold front runner, he does plenty right. COOLTH had an impeded run and hit the line well but was entitled to.

Race 3 The Vobis Sires Guineas 1600m

This was a genuinely run contest. CHARTRES is very talented and very genuine and copped a nice ride to get the result. THE CLAIMANT is still rather untapped and did a good job to fill a minor placing. SACHEM the other horse I was interested in, he never got a good look until it was over and I do think he's city class. Sick watch for TOBAYSURE backers too. A little guarded of the form from this but I do think you can take on trust the lead in form.

Race 4 Surewise Vobis Gold Heath 2000m

He had an absolute picnic from the front GRANDSLAM but he was very impressive all the same. Clearly the run of the race, the Warrnambool Cup looks at his mercy.

Race 5 Avenel Equine Hosp. Vgold Dash 1100m

MIDWEST was gifted a soft lead here, I definitely thought Meech erred by not putting ICE PICK NICK outside him and serving it up given what he did at The Valley. JIGSAW can be very competitive wherever he goes next, a nice return from him.

Race 6 The Showdown 1200m

I'm giving this race the auto-pen job from a form perspective. Nice win by KING'S CONSORT but I don't expect any of these to feature come spring.

Race 7 Spendthrift Aust. Vgold Sprint 1200m

Sick photo on LOMBARDO, really cruel stuff. REGARDSMAREE did a terrific job to be sharp enough at this trip as I felt he was better at 1400m. The Nick Ryan stable can get one to spike and we saw it on display yet again. SWATS THAT and TYPHOON HARMONY both were quite disappointing.

Race 9 Widden Stud Bel Esprit Stakes 1100m

Nice win by EXTREME WARRIOR but he was suited. IT'SOURTIME, CURRAN (gun fresh) and NOT AN OPTION were all very good efforts and hoping they go separate ways rather than against one another.
